Trucking with KING
Went here back in 03! Best thing to happen, I felt independent, met all types that are still friends of today. Stayed in res 2! I was a mentor and a hall leader of epsilon hall (MASS CLEANUP!! Lol) There was drama but it never impacted my outcome. Although I went for computer technology and HSD, I’ve been trucking for the past 13 years. I own my truck and business. Even if you don’t career what you go here for, it builds character and life values. Depends on you really. Randomly stopping down memory lane…

There was no privacy, and there were consistantly many uncomfortable situations, but there was ample food, water, and shelter. A good place to go for kids who have nowhere else to go.

Lots of people go there to play around and chill, if you’re goal oriented you can get job skills that pay very well. Food wasn’t the best but it’s free, they do treat you like a kid. Do what you need to do and graduate. I got my GED, and my merchant marine documents and went on the adventure of a lifetime! Avoid drama as there’s lots around. It’s a good opportunity make use of it.

I went there from 2011 to 2012. Very strict but I loved the experience
Yes you can if you want to join the Job Corps you must go to the Job Corps site on the internet and find out the nearest screener for your area
There is a Facebook page for getting in touch with former students and staff.
No chew on center or in the smoking area. Smoking only in the smoking area by the gate.
You can also do work based learning. Staff members help line you up with a job that reflects the trade skills you are learning. I'm a cement instructor so I try to get my students jobs with contractors. This let's my students work on a construction sight during the trade day. This let's them save money for a car or a place to live after they complete job corps.
Toungue point has no mechanic trades others do
Tongue Point offers welding as a trade and you can be as old as 24 for this center
Ur going to need to ask him because as well as the address u will need his mailbox number, we each get one.
She would fit in with everyone at res 4.
They are installing it and it will be available within a couple weeks.
I'm a Senior Security Officer on center. You can skateboard on center as long as you have a helmet and pads on. You can also ride a bike in center as long as you have a helmet on.
It depends on the trade. If you have the trade you want closer to home, then no. However if Oregon is the closest then they will pay for your transportation.
We dont have spring breaks but we do have Christmas and they pay for your ride there if it means plane or bus but they only pay for big serious holidays and they tax you out of your check
Theres some hygiene in the student store in the gym and all you have to do is fill out how many hours you do for each activity on the blue little paper that you can get from the gym. If you need some help with it ask the staff
Some and there is a store on campus. If you cant afford them I am sure they can help you.
Yes it's open and every room has flat screen TVs, free wifi, girls are aloud to go to boys rooms but you gotta do 8 hours of community service a month to be in res 3
No. You just wont get they pay you get when you complete. They allow you to come back if you wont. So there are no penaltys
Yes varieties of food
I know some people were allowed to have their car but you'd need to get permission. You actually cannot leave campus for the first 4 weeks after that you can get a weekend pass that will allow you to go home for the weekend as long as you're back by curfew on Sunday. I would talk to your admission's councelor about where to get permission fir the car.
There are 4 residential dorms, you mostly start out in a Normal room with 3 other people, honor rooms for the most part are 2 people, res 3 has 1 person rooms for those on a high privilege level. The lockers are decent, not too small and you also get drawers. Res 1 and 2 have hall bathrooms and showers while res 3 and 4 have personal bathrooms. You will be assigned a res depending on space. Of course through out your stay you can request a dorm change. They allow consoles and tvs, though the tv must be less than 32 in. If you do go you will be sent a list of what is and is not allowed.
Yes, after being in trade for a couple weeks you will start classes and earn it at your own rate while still working on your trade.
It depends on what trade you go into, if you need highschool/GED, a driver's license, work based learning and how fast you learn, after that you can go into another trade or go to an advanced training program. All together I took 10 months, 4 weeks learning the program and the rest mostly in trade, I did earn my GED and driver's license but those classes only took up half of my day for a short period of time. The longest trade is seamanship and they take around 2 years. The rest are much shorter especially when you focus and out hard work into it.
