Updated and better than ever. U will never eat a better fluffier pancake. Note… brisket hash is not yo mamas hash. Eggs with salad, scrumptious potatoes and a HUGE slab of the best brisket . Somebody knows their way around a smoker. No mish mash hash served here!

Impromptu early lunch with a friend set on trying the “new” local, reopen ,new owner and new menu ..Sweet Sues. I was very hungry if not hangry after a tough morning. My friend was still full from breakfast but game for an adventure. The layout was quite different, from previous owners , as seating was more outside than in. There was A specific area with registers and happy staff to take your order. ( they do have table service) I chose to wait for my friend for our choice of in or out. Meanwhile I ordered an omelet with mushrooms and cheese. I asked for sourdough bread specifically because it can be tolerable with a GF diet. I was told they had sourdough. I ordered a cappuccino. The cappuccino was delivered at the counter in an 8 ounce glass sans handle. It was very hot. I grabbed some napkins to wrap around the tasty and well made cappuccino. I had to side step over to the sugar and various milk offerings. (To be noted there were no tea offerings , like black tea, available ) they offer Green tea with mint iced and various coffees & Mexican sodas Finally leaving the lopsided table outside we opted for the very nice large tables with metal stools. I found the chilled free water dispenser, silverware and napkins. Getting settled my omelet arrived .. I was immediately disappointed. It was way over done and in puddles of grease. The bread may or may not have been sourdough but it was a Lower quality bread, heavy and not convincing as a sourdough. I couldn’t eat the omelet or the toast. I drank the coffee which was well made and tasty.. (I need a handle on a hot drink unfortunate spills happened) My friend thoroughly enjoyed her salad including spinach ,beet root ,Vidalia onions grilled, goat cheese and walnuts. Her salad was huge and lovely. The dressing was also to her liking maple syrup being an ingredient. As they are new and just getting started I paid for my bill and I didn’t want any replacements. They were very gracious and tried to meet where I was. The waitstaff did a good job.

Really want to like this place, especially as it’s a new addition to my small town, unfortunately it’s obviously only geared towards tourists. The food was good but their pricing is outrageous! A simple iced coffee is almost $6 ( not even a large)…a small box of beignets (basically fried dough) are $9. I think they should consider the people who actually live in the area and might be the regular customers for them as opposed to only wealthy tourists. But it appears that that’s who they’ve focused on. There should be a bit more consideration. This isn’t Williamsburg or Soho, it’s a tiny hamlet inhabited mainly by the working class. Disappointing. Hoping they will become more realistic.

My friends and I spent this long memorial day weekend in Phoenicia, and Sweet Sue's quickly became a part of our morning routine! Delicious menu, great coffee, and very friendly owners/staff. I look forward to coming back!
