For fine dining in South Bend Carriage House cannot be topped. The food and service was outstanding. The menu changes regularly so every visit will be a new experience. There is outdoor seating available when the weather permits. Plenty of parking.

We wish we could rate this place higher! It is an iconic tradition, our family has attended many times in the past. However, we arrived at 6:50 for a 6:45 reservation and were greeted with hesitant faces. We sat and it took 25 minutes before anyone asked us if we wanted a drink. We were, served our first two courses in 3,5 hours, left at 10:145 pm, had not been served our main course yet, wish. We could say better because the food for first 2 cources tasted amazing!

The ambiance and the servers were great. As a vegetarian there are very limited options. We spent a good deal of time fighting the bees flying around the patio. If you're a carnivore then definitely go for a burger, the 1851 was recommended by someone else in my party. However the pizzas and dessert are not worth the price. If I were to go back I would just go for drinks and appetizers.

What a wonderful place! The atmosphere, the gardens, the food, drinks, and the live entertainment was all top notch. We had cocktails, appetizers, and pizzas made in the outdoor pizza oven, all while listening to live jazz music. Then took a relaxing stroll with a glass of rose wine through the garden. Staff was friendly and attentive. We’ll be back very soon!
