This is a B&B in the town of St. Elmo. The town itself is all private property. There are no buildings to rent. It is almost always busy with tourists and four-wheelers. There's dispersed camping nearby on the 4x4 trails. There are no accessible mines in the area.
Disbursed camping is available off of the Road to Hancock / Alpine Tunnel and also Tin Cup Pass. You can explore the ghost town and there are plenty of trails and hiking in the area. You cannot rent a building in St Elmo. There may be summer home rentals in St Elmo, but not in the winter. You could of course rent a room at the Ghost Town Guest House, but sounds like you want to experience some rugged camping. Have fun.
