I have a hunting rifle that I am wanting to sell, but it was a gift from my dad years ago and we can’t remember whose name it’s under. Could I give cabelas the serial number to look up whose name it’s under or is their a process?

That would be a good place to start. I'm sure they run all gun serial numbers as standard practice before making any offers just to be safe.
