I have in the past not sure about now we don't buy turkeys at Safeways anymore. Natural grocer has excellent turkeys and yes they are pre-ordered you pay for them when they come in
yes you can just ask the meat department and they can get you one
Turkey is for "Turkeys" = as it's full of L-trypophan !!! From WebMD: "L- tryptophan can cause some side effects such as heartburn, stomach pain, belching and gas, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and loss of appetite. It can also cause headache, lightheadedness, drowsiness, dry mouth, visual blurring, muscle weakness, and sexual problems."

I have never heard of that from any grocery store. A meat/game processor maybe. Thawed uncocked turkey is dangerous, even deadly. You might try a butcher shoo, probably your best bet.
