Keep in mind that if you drop it in the water, it's gone.
Id recommend something waterproof with a wrist strap just in case :) otherwise yes you can as far as I know
Yes, though it's definitely at risk as you might expect. I personally happen to have a dry-bag and pulled out my camera at certain times. A waterproof camera would be perfect though.
