As a kid (50's & 60's) Alexander Springs was one of our favorite places to camp and snorkel. You can go as far as you want down the river and it's beautiful. Crystal clear. You see fish, turtles and, yes, an occasional gator.

I didn't snorkel but lots of people were. There's one area where people scuba dive because it's deeper and that's where they snorkel.

It's very nice but it's not that big of an area if you go out past the secured area I imagine its infested with alligators
