Hello Cynthia, Thank you for asking. We source our bread from the Amoroso Baking Company in Philadelphia. This company has been supplying hearth baked goods since 1904. The bread is soft on the inside with a slightly chewy exterior. This bread is a staple ingredient for an authentic cheesesteak experience. We can toasty your roll for you If you prefer your bread toasted. We look forward to serving you and learning what you thought of it. Sincerely, Mario

The bread is more on the softer side than crunchy (and if you don't eat it fast enough it can get a big soggy). Doesn't seem like they use the classic italian sub loaf, probably more of a regular white sub sandwich bread. To be honest I much prefer their cold sandwiches over the hot ones.
