Yup roads are good, a few switchbacks... but if you're a competent driver they will be cake

Yes, roads are fine. Make sure you know which campground you are going to there are 2 and they are 6 miles apart. Crooked River E-loop or Deschutes A, B, C loops. (Reservation paperwork just say The Cove Palisades Campground which is the whole park.)

I have seen it done, there are several camp spots down the winding roads. It may be slow going but possible...

Yes. The roads are paved and big enough to tow a trailer to the campground from Portland. A little iffy if you take it to the other side of the lake though.
