a nice place and very beautiful within walking distance up a short trail to the water the drawbacks are absolutely no cell phone or Internet access no electrical outlets near the camp ground's no air conditioning in the showers and bathrooms. The squirrels here will break into your tents eating holes through the fabric. The place was noisy and a little bit rowdy all night long. Music dogs barking people drinking and laughing. The biggest plus was that there was a really nice dog park fully fenced and safe

We stayed here for 7 nights in mid-September just before the close of camping season. The Deschutes Campground is well into the Cove, and Verizon (as of 2018) did not have cell service in the canyon. Pretty wide open campsites that are decently spread. You are not being packed in like sardines. Highly recommended if you love hiking, photography, or getting out onto the lake.

The campground was very well kept and clean with close access to swimming and boat ramps. We had our 5 year old with us and she loved the nightly nature presentations and morning Jr. Ranger programs.

This might be the best place to stay if you are planning on spending time on/at Lake Billy Chinook. There are plenty of spaces (most of which are reservable online), decent restrooms, showers, a playground, and a camp store (snacks, water, ice, firewood, etc.). The sites are a little closer and exposed (to other campers) than I’d prefer, but if you’re at the lake most of the time it won’t matter.
