J. L. Ward continues to own the land that was partially part of the front nine. When the course was a full 18 holes, it was called Mountain High Golf Course. After a dispute with the City of Bend over the operation of his private water company, which supplied water to his Mountain High residential development, the city acquired the water company, to spite the homeowners he tore the front nine out and allowed the back nine go fallow. When the HOA sued, the court required him to restore the back nine ( where all the homes were located) and he agreed to operate the course for 13 years, beginning in 2010. What happens after that? The company has a proposal to develop almost 800 lots across the street from the Bend Country Club, which is currently under review.
I think the property was nonated to the city???¿????
From what they told me they have no plan to go back to 18 holes.
