Yes. I didn't kayak but saw several who were.. There was one guy that carried his kayak up the stairs by the dam. The falls at that point are beautiful but down river from the falls are where most activity is located.

Yes, up to the dam is nice with the waterfalls. But if water is somewhat low, you have to kayak on the left side of the vulture island. You will know what i mean when you see it.
Yes there is casual. Around the beach area is very nice. You can unload there as well. Its beautiful. Not sure what its like further down. We only stayed at the beach but it is a good size area. Have fun.
