You DON'T have to pay. If there's a lot of people, they'll make you enter a virtual lane in your phone. If this happens, you'll need to wait until there's space inside the store. You can go anywhere (you don't wait just standing on a lane) but be sure to come back as soon as you get their text saying that it's your turn.
You have to get a scan code in the morning. They start giving them out 7 AM at the store. Then you be signed a lot number and then they will text you when it is your turn.
You have to get to the store at 7 am. They put the QR code out then. If you get there early (I got there at 6:45 am) then you will be in the front of the line and get in first when they open at 10. Once you scan the code at 7 am you can leave and do whatever. They will text you starting at 10 am going in order. You then have 1 hour to get there. I was there 5 days ago and this is how they are doing it now.

Depends on the day for the wait as well. I had about 2 hour wait once I got my code to get into the store. However, if you want to do VR tours you need to get those online.
