Yes, to the fact that it does have confederacy history. Stone Mountain is so much more than that though. There are the Skyview gondolas, train, putt putt, hotels, golfing...this last Saturday we enjoyed an event called "Halloween Spooktacular" a family, fun filled night.

There are 2 confederate items and of course the famous carving on the side of the mountain but it is more of a family place. Lots to do, the skylift, train ride, and lots of other fun things. There campground is great also. I would highly recommend it to anyone!

Not for a very long time but there is a flag monument and the Bas relief carving. You'd have to make an effort to see either one.

Its streets are named after confederate generals, and the engraving does feature same losing generals. In the end though, Stone Mountain itself doesn't memorialize the loser confederates. It's foremost one of the best public recreation areas in the Atlanta Metro Area.

Stone Mountain is my therapy sessions. 5 miles one the basic walking trail and a mile and a quarter thing up on the largest granite structure east of the Mississippi River. If you enjoy outside and nature you'll enjoy this park.
