I go several times a week. You're fine. Don't look for reasons to be scared of living your life.
Right now I don't know if it's safe every one has a opinion and there are those who are being paid to cause problems like that. No you are not racist for going to enjoy a day out or learn about history etc that is not racist. What is racist are those screaming at others only threathing white people demanding money etc. That is racist thinking one race is better then the other while trying to use the color of ones skin to get free stuff while putting down or threatening another race. Stone mountain has always been a family friendly place up in tell a few weeks ago with those coming out to cause trouble.
If you want to see diversity at its finest then you need to go. Stop listening to the tv. The people there are wonderful and friendly. Go hike the trails, drive around and enjoy the scenery. You will be safe and you will be happy you went. Everybody there is going for the same reason which is to enjoy the outdoors. Ive been several times since all this has broke out and have not seen one problem. Advice though but the year pass, you will go back.
This park has all walks of life,so if you're good with seeing all different types of people this is a good place.
I go to the park almost every weekend and I have never had a problem or seen any protesters.
Went camping on July 4th when people were protesting. No issues at all.
I haven't encountered any issues. I go every other day to walk.
Had a wonderful time. Just went a week ago. Had same reservations but I assure you its all media hype.
Well when I went last week they had close the part because a couple of people grouped up at the top of the mountain and started threatening African Americans who were wearing Black Lives Matter shirts, and they refusing to come back down.
