There will always be salty people but ive gone to Yugioh tournamants and people are super chill and helpful. Even if you only just started playing everyone seems to be helpful in some way, employees and patrons alike.
Not a Pokemon player but for the game I do play it has been toxic free. The best way to find out is go to a tournament just to observe and not play to get a feel for it.
