I have recently been told that the State of Texas limits 'one week' stays at hospice facilities, is that the truth? My brother-in-law as inoperable gastric cancer and 35% heart capacity, kidney dysfunction & Parkinsons.

My father was there just to get his pain managed because he was on hospice and after a few days sent back home

Hi..Is he on hospice? Inpatient hospice is for uncontrolled symptoms: pain, nausea/vomiting, agitation with the goal of managing the symptoms and then discharge to a lower level of care. If that takes more than one week it is OK. We do have patients stay under " routine care" but medicare will not pay for room and board in that case, that cost would have to be paid privately. I hope this helps.
