The over population of cats is an unfortunate reality. Our shelter takes in about 3500 cats each year. We find homes for many of them, and transfer as many to other shelters where they have a bigger human population to adopt to. Still, with all our efforts there are still cats that are put to sleep due to health problems, behavior problems, or the sheer lack of available space at the shelter. So yes, we do euthanize, but only when we have NO other option.
