To remove the restriction, you need to take a road test in a manual truck. The cost would vary. The vast majority of reputable companies have switched to Automatics, for both safety and fuel economy. So the restriction wouldn't really hinder you in the future. Unless you already are planning on working somewhere with standard trucks. In which case you could learn from someone there how to shift. Your CDL, is yours. It's your professional resume, whatever you add to it. Ie endorsements is up to you. Getting a CDL isn't like getting a job. It's a professional license, the more experience and endorsements you have, the higher your value.
