Absolutely need a ticket.
Recommend that you always buy a ticket in advance, but on week days its not really necessary. Fri-Sun you absolutely need a reservation to get in though
You have to chose a time you want to go in that day. Kinda like if you were watching a movie and choosing which hour you want to go watch it.
