Jonette, it's very difficult to schedule an appointment. You can try online but if you're lucky to find an available slot open it will likely be as far as December. What I've done several times for two different vehicles is go to the Henderson location at 630am, they open at 7am. The line to the left is for drop off. At 7 all of the DMV employees are available at once so pretty much everyone gets in. MAKE SURE you have everything or you'll have to come back. (proof of insurance, title, bill of sale, etc check website for requirements) They'll have you fill out a form for credit or debit card authorization and they'll give you a pick up slip, you return a week later to the same line. Lines at any other time of the day are very slow moving. The first time I went I waited 90 minutes in what looked like a short line. When I went a few days ago, they immediately cleared half of the line by telling people they will not be given appointments, "you have to call or go online to make app"
I showed up with no appointment. Took about 30 mins and had my questions answered, my moving permit($2.), And an appointment in 5 days.
I was there when the security said only with appointment and will be after December because they are very busy.
You can go any time during the day; HOWEVER, u will be standing in line for a while & you will only be able to drop off docs, etc to get the vehicle registered. You then get a 30 day moving permit and are told to come back in a week to pick up your plates. I just went through this a couple weeks ago. Just be prepared to stand in line & wait outside if you choose this route.
