Do you make it a common practice to lie about an owner's pet being in there, even after coming to your shelter to get the pet 1 day after it got there? Keeping the pet 11 days trying to get boarding fees, unnecessary shots and other fees.

This is the exact same thing that happened to me! REPLY TO PAULA SNARR: This happened a few years ago, so no I have no proof. My dog had tags, and was under 6 months old at the time. She was outside on a lead while we were carpet cleaning and she chewed thru and ran off. I started calling the shelter the same night she ran and each day they said she wasn't there. After a week on my way home from work I decided to stop in myself to post a photo on their board. When I walked in there was a woman behind the desk and she had the the extremely colorful very distinct collar wrapped around her hair that was pulled up in a bun. (I agree, super weird to do but, there it was in her hair). I walked thru to make sure and there was my dog in a cage marked available for adoption the next day! They lied the whole time, and made me pay for new tags to take her home. ALWAYS VISIT TO SEE IF YOUR PET IS THERE!! They can sell full bred young dogs for quite a bit and I believe that was why they kept mine.

Are you serious? Do you have proof? Did you report this to the police? This is a serious accusation, and if it it true, many people, including me, may never know what happened to their missing dog or cat. It is hard to believe someone using a dog collar as a hair tie. Can you please explain?
