They say there are two separate "rapids" areas that you go through on the 8-mile but, they are very easy. Maybe it depends on the weather and the heighth of the water. It wasn't bad at all when my son and I went. You definitely will want two people rowing in your canoe if you haven't done a lot of rowing. That will definitely help get through the "rapids" areas.
Timothy Cool, I will be in a 1 person kayak. Denise D, thank you. I will be with a group of people. They have not decided yet whether it will be the 3 or 8 mile.
They told us if you are a beginner they usually have you do a 3 mile one a couple times to get used to it.
Kim, there are 2 sets of Class I rapids on the 8 mile trip. They are definitely navigable. The number of times you have paddled and your comfort zone will determine your accessibility to the 8 mile. Please exercise caution. In BOTH "rapid" areas, stay to the right side of the river for easier navigation. I hope this information helps. Good luck and enjoy your future boating trips with us at Mad River Adventures!
