Yes have to be a member if you're a member with a Visa Costco card you get 3% cashback on gas purchase it really adds up at the end of the year!

Costco ONLY accepts Visa credit card or Visa debit card. You can also use a Costco Gift card. You MUST BE a Costco member & use a Costco membership card in order to buy gas here. I always give my niece my Costco membership card & she always buys gas at Costco. Much cheaper at Melrose Park location (at least 11 to 16 cents cheaper compared to Costco in Niles, IL)
