Girl scouts sell nuts, chocolates, & magazines in addition to cookies. Cookie money gets divided between the troop and the council. The council uses the money for: paying the baker, the cookie prizes, and their programs like camp. None of the cookie money leaves the local council.... so the national office does not get any money from cookie sales
The Girl Scouts in the fall, sells nuts, candy, and magazines. It is more of a family and friends sale. In the winter, the girls sell cookies. These are both major fundraisers for the troops. The money is divided up between: the cookie baker, council and the troops. Girls use this money to go to camp, community service projects and more. Council uses the money to fund: the upkeep of camps, activities, and sends underprivileged girls to camp (that couldn't otherwise afford to go).
Yes only Girl Scouts sell cookies and the money from the sale stays in the troop and for local Girl Scout programs such as camp, STEM activities, and community service.
