There is a computer repair trade. The first certification you get is the lockout tagout that has nothing to do with computers. Next get the IC3 which is basic computer literacy. Advanced searches, Microsoft office etc.. Some people get it in 1 day, others in 2 weeks, and some in 6+ months. It's pretty easy though if you've ever spent time on a computer and the internet. After that the real computer stuff begins. The Comptia A+ is the first real certification and prepares you to be a computer repair technician along with some basic networking. You'll learn how to fix hardware, software and network problems. The A+ is pretty basic. You get two chances per test (usually) and there are 2 tests. The 901 (Hardware) & the 902 (Software). If you pass those you go onto The Network+. After that, The Security+. Both of which are self explanatory. Most advanced CR Trade options require you to have at least The Network +.
