Take the 1 from San Luis Obispo. After you get out of town, just a couple of miles, it is fast. The country is beautiful. You will pass Cambria and continue to San Simeon. The Friends of the Elephant Seal (tourist information) is located in the Cavalier's shopping area. The seals are about six miles North Highway 1.
From Pismo to the elefant seal view point in piedras blancas is about an hour. The seal are not in San simeon. They are about another 10 minutes up the road. About 3 miles north of the hearst castle.
I agree with everyone else. One hour 15 minutes. The seals are not too far down from hearst castle. Thankfully, haven't heard of any road closures. So that roads should still be open. Enjoy the beautiful sites!
About an hour 15 and there are plenty of seals just south of Hearst castle (sometimes zebras across the road as well). Enjoy.
Depends on if you take hwy 1 or 101. Either 1 hour and 15 minutes to 2 hours. Yes roads are open.
