Was the origional Hemingway house destroyed by a hurricane in the 2000's?

Nope. Its the same home that the original owner built. Except that they added air conditioning last year.

The house was built out of limestone in the highest point of Key West. There has never been rain getting into the house or into the basement from a hurricane. It is fantastically sturdily built.
