A friend of mine is looking for a non functioning m14/m16 or M1 to use for burial details (rifle bayonet in the ground with a or of boots and a helmet on top.) Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I am a retired MARINE Master Gunnery Sergeant

Nice to meet you. I was a Navy corpsman 1996 - 2000, I was briefly stationed at Camp Lejeune as a medic for your fellow Marines. I went through field medical service school on Camp Johnson which is just next door. I'm sorry but the field Heritage Museum won't have what you're looking for. You would be better off to look online or at estate sales or auctions.

You might check with an American Legion or a VFW post in your area

For a non-functioning piece you can assemble from parts, leaving out the lower receiver, say, to reduce your cost. Also there are reasonable facsimile or replica pieces you can source online. Best wishes for success in your search. May those you seek to honour rest in peace.
