I have a connecting flight in JFK. Will arrive on American Airlines at Terminal 8 but my connecting flight will be with Qatar Airways, possibly Terminal 4. Will one hour be adequate time to catch the AirTrain from Terminal 8 to 4?

In theory yes, but realistically I'd say you'd need more time, a lot more time

Yes if your first flight is on time. Only takes 15 minutes use the tram running between stations. Blessings to all.

Yes 1 hr will work if domestic travel. You may need 10 min to exit airplane. You have to go to Tram station 5-10min and wait aroud 5 min and ride around 10 min and arive Terminal 4 And walk to gate and check TSA 10-20 min. So it would be very tight schedule. I recall there are 2 trams you should check shorter direction tram.
