I can't give a definite yes or no because I do not work not the site, but I have walked the trails a few times and don't think there really would be enough water to enjoy a kayak through the swamp part. It usually varies based on rainfall and how the ground / weather is.
Nope. You can not access the creek from the park boardwalk. By foot, yes. But this is not a boat launch. The county just purchased an adjacent property which will include water access to Battle Creek - hang tight until the Gateway property comes online.
Unfortunately no... the park doesn't provide for any recreational boating & besides, the water is more swamp than river and therefore very shallow & little open area water. You have to travel a few hours south into Virginia & the Blackwater & Nottoway Rivers to get a REAL Cypress Swamps kayaking experience without going further south. Watch the YouTube "Kayaking on the Blackwater River" episode by "strongbowhunter" for a magical view of Cypress swamp serenity within a short drive from the DC/Baltimore metropolis!
