At least half of a day for sure. There are other food options around the area if you don't want to eat at the cafe.
My kids could stay all day. It cam get really boring for parents by the end, even if your super involved in play... if you stay all day I would recomend packing a lunch, because the food is expensive unless you want to walk down the hall for subway..
Depending on your childs age it could easily be an all day event.
We go once a week for about 3 hours and my kids are disappointed when its time to go. Certainly could be all day especially in the summer when the outdoor activities are open.
Depending upon the age of the children, yes you could spend all day there. They now have a cafe inside or you can bring lunch inside/leave and come back. There's certainly enough new exhibits there now to entertain most kids <7 for a day
