When my gas fireplace was installed by contractor, it was not insulated around it to keep out the cold. Is it possible to insulate it with rock wool or a similar product? Thank you, Larry Cooper

If it is a insert, it should have been insulated at the damper. If not, you can do it yourself with paperless insulation. If it goes through the wall, there too should have had insulation
