I remember in the 70's early 80's a place called Le Coucou in NY.. It wasn't a restaurant, but a popular night club.... Is this the same place now converted to an eatery?

It is a french eatery. No mention of being a previous night club. It is an inspiration of an an american chef who practiced in France and brought his French cuisine mastery to NYC. A fine exprience, great food, ambience, and patrons.
