Everything was perfect. I loved the sole fish.

Anyone who has been to this restaurant knows it’s absolutely beautiful. Also, I must boast that the food last night, was both exquisite and sublime. Being a seasoned diner as well as former culinary professional, I was absolutely amazed at the culinary sophistication with which the food was prepared. And how delicious it was (not always one in the same). If I could give the Food 10 stars out of five I would. The wine was great as well. The dessert menu could use some embellishing. But what is taking my score down here was the “over” attentive service which took way too much away from the dining experience. I was with a friend who I actually adore and could not wait to catch up with. The constant and often insensitive interruptions from the wait staff got to be way out of hand. I had an 8:00 reservation, they did not need to rush me since they were probably not going to need my table when we would be finished at 10pm. We did not look at the menu immediately because my friend and I wanted to say hi to each other. The server came over a few times closely together to take the order but we had not decided yet. Then if I heard her correctly, she said, “OK now you have to order” but we had not been there that long! So we ordered and all night we were interrupted as in “can we take your dishes?”, pouring water, replacing bottles of water when our glasses were full and we did not order it. And when we said to one server that we were still working on our food or dessert, and other server came 60 seconds later to ask if they could take the plates. I hate being interrupted and rushed and we were interrupted like every 3 minutes. Additionally, I love a good Sommelier. In fact, I almost became one. But often, I don’t need help on the wine menu. I am delighted to be made aware that there is a Sommelier present, should I require aid. But it’s insulting when servers assume we know nothing about wine, and offer the Sommelier, then insist when I am not interested, and send them anyways. If I’m talking to the Sommelier, I can’t read the list to figure out what I want! And I usually know what I am in the mood to drink with my entree. (And the Somme was lovely BTW). Not sure if there was a manager directing the staff to come over too frequently or if the wait staff took it upon themselves to do so, but intrusive did not begin to describe it. Also, the wine list should have more less expensive options. There are plenty of great drinking wines available in NY for a restaurant to offer at $150-300 a bottle. You don’t need to have so many thousand dollar options and so few lesser expensive ones. The wine I wanted was 400.00 a bottle, so I opted for a wine by the glass from a limited selection. That said my glass was spectacular! I’m sad because Le Coucou is a hard reservation to come by. And when I finally got one, I spent more time with the staff than with my coveted dinner date.

Not at all.
No
English speaking, I would assume there's french speaking staff, it's NYC.
You need to contact the restaurant directly.
I had lunch there. Didn't like it a lot. For a french restaurant I hoped they'd have a better steak tartare.
