If anybody needs the answer to this question all you need to do is go to the tag office with your drivers license and they'll give you a new one. Also your expiration date changes to correspond to the date you get the new one. This is for a permanent disability placard. I don't know about the temporary ones.
You know you're asking the people who have been to this tag office right? We're no experts on tags. My advice is to go there and ask them. They are friendly and have been efficient when I went.
