When the library "closes" at 5pm, does that mean that it is closed as in no more business is done, and people can stay and study later than 5pm, or does it mean that every person is out by 5pm?

When the building closes for the evening, everyone is asked to leave. Rose library has a 24-hour study lounge for JMU students that you can use no matter what time though

Our hours are longer during most of the year, but yes, at this time of year the 24/7 Space in Rose Library is the only library facility that is open after 5pm. The closest 24/7 study space to Carrier Library is Taylor Down Under.
