Because so many people use it like an urgent care, instead of going to an urgent care, or using to get something that they should go to their regular doctor for, or even going to urgent care for that instead of the er. If people would use the emergency room for actual emergencies, the wait time to be seen would be a lot faster.
UNM Hospitals is absurdly understaffed and they refuse to do anything about it.
Very good question. Granted they do have a lot on their plate—they are short staffed from the looks of it. My mom and I spent nearly 12 hours until being seen! They need to expand, hire, & make adjustments. If Lovelace can do it, they can to!
Incompetent nurses who just gossip and get fat off junk food.
I feel so many people go to ER with cuts bruises they need to go to urgent care.ER means emergency care. People who have broken legs, car accidents, heart problems. ETC Then one shouldn't need to wait so long.Just a.thought.
Because people use the ER for things that are not emergent, where they should be going to either urgent care or their primary care dr. Also people need to realize UNMH is the ONLY level 1 trauma center in the whole state….. so yes, they get ALL the traumas!
