i have gotten food on the verge of spoiling, but as Aaron indicated, if you freeze the bread and use the fruit/vegetables right away it's all good. i guess it's a matter of perspective.

This is a Christ based charity, sorry that we are all in the same boat. Anyone reading this most likely has need. So glad you have that degree, but I am more impressed with the generous soul who tried to reach out to you. I watched the gals at Starbucks empty a tray full of delicious looking cookies, muffins, cakes and gourmet bagels last week. Employees stated they would love to donate but corporate will fire anyone who might hand any expired food to the homeless who decorate the parking lot using the free Wi-Fi. Thank you QT, Circle K and local grocers who have a heart. What I can't consume I add to my dogs kibble bowls. They say thank you for caring too🐕❤️

The food and other supplies that are given out come from local grocery store locations and farms; it is not fresh and is the items that are soon to be spoiled when it is donated or it is non-food items that are overstocked or returns from retailers. From experience, I can tell you that the people loading the food boxes are receiving items that are in large boxes, and because of the high demand and often the lack of volunteers, there are times those people who are loading the boxes don't always have time to inspect all the items. There is often a huge line of people waiting for a shopping cart full of food, and simply not enough people to help. I spent my vacation volunteering for them, and the work is not easy, and they are often short staffed. There are also people who give the staff problems because they don't get to have items they want, or because they think it's a grocery store and demand that they are provided things that the food bank simply doesn't have available or on hand.

To Kim don't go get food if you're going to complain. I've never had a problem. I appreciate what I get.

Joanna Lyons | Oct 28, 2018

I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't had any problems.

If you people would have read it correctly I am grateful not stupid I've found other resources and they are fine 😁

The foid is donated by local farms and grocery chains so that can happen at times. In the summer the heat dowsnt help. If you go early within the first few hours they are open, the food will most limely be fresher and the sooner you wash and refrigerate the food, the better
