If you have a check engine light on the vehicle needs to be diagnose and fix ( light staying on means that something is affecting the vehicle's emissions) testing stations will not run the test with light staying pn

If they fix the problem, they should be clearing the check engine light so it's not still on. If the light is still on I don't think they'll even let you do your emissions check
