Typically you get the most benefit from a series of 2-3 shots. However, if the pain is completely gone after just one shot, just call the office and let them know before your next appointment. You may not have to have any more (per the doctors there). But definitely get the next one at the first sign of returning pain.
It helps if you stay ahead of it. Talk to your doctor and see what they recommend. I personally have to try and stay ahead of my neck, because otherwise when it hits I can lose some function in my arms until I make it in.
No I would wait until the pain started coming back to take advantage of the meds.
