I would go there in the early morning. Dog parks as a general rule are not great places to introduce dogs. A lot can go bad very quickly. (Usually best to introduce them with known friendly dogs that have good manners first). Also, not a great idea to keep a dog leashed inside the park, this creates barrier frustration and does not allow your dog to flee if they are frightened. I have seen many serious dog fights with owners involved because people keep their dog on leash inside.
There's always quite a bit of dogs there, so maybe not the best start.
I think this is a better choice to start at compared to a smaller dog park where dogs are running into each other more often. There's more space past the busier pool area. If you can exercise your dog before coming to the park it would help too.
That's where my dog learned to be around other dogs, I've had very good experience there. Try going past the pond area before unleashing your dog since the area in the back with the track is calmer
