It has to be your parent (or legal guardian) with you at the DMV, regardless of who was actually in the car when you were practicing. You can practice driving with anyone, but one of your parents has to be at the DMV to give consent for you to get a license.
I have my grandmother who is the one I practiced with. Is that what you mean?
