I was at Prairie State Legal this morning with my son. The lady at the front desk was not very welcoming. We told her why we were there and she informed us we needed to speak with Jerry Woods. She gave us a card and told us to call the number on it. Well, it ended up being the same number we had called several times and you never get through to anyone. I asked while we were there could we just schedule an appointment and she said no. How do you get help if no one will help you?

I’m extremely disheartened and extremely disgusted that they would not take a case for a disabled woman I am a full time caregiver to. The lack of respect shown by an “attorney” on her case was head spinning with not listening/hearing what was being said. Apparently crackerjack must be putting degrees in their boxes for prizes because this person was contradicting what ILGA.gov webpage was stating. When asked why the contradictory statements , we were only told “you’re incorrect”. Too bad organizations like this hire persons on who just don’t care about people’s wellbeing .

I can't get ahold of prairie State Legal. I am on Section 8. Every time I call Prairie State Legal, all I get is a recording, that you have to push a lot of numbers, and you still can't talk to a lawyer.

Lot of back and forth phone calls asking the same questions. I was matched with a lawyer who racially profiled me. Then said he wasn't going to represent me. Total waste of time! Don't bother calling this place!

Please call 1-855-631-0811 for Eviction Help Illinois. You will enter your zip code and your call will be routed to our staff. A lawyer will need to talk with you to understand your situation and provide appropriate help. All services are without charge to you.

How does someone hire a lawyer for a divorce who has no money for a lawyer. A very very low income person. Have tried so many ways but cannot find help.

There are resources at www.illinoislegalaid.org to help people representing themselves in filing for a divorce. The 19th Judicial Circuit asl has a Legal Self Help Center and resources at http://www.19thcircuitcourt.state.il.us/2115/Divorce-Family. Prairie State handles divorces when needed for the physical safety of our clients. We sometimes have volunteer attorneys in the community who help us to expand legal help in other cases. It is best to go to www.pslegal.org and you can try to start an inquiry online or call our office between 9am and 1pm weekdays to reach our intake services.

Lake county taxes for real estate held my payment for June, until July 12, then sent a letter I was late and there are penalties. Mailed payment May 31, as I have for 22 years on time. How can a business hold check then charge penalties

You can look up your legal options at www.illinoislegalaid.org. This may include resources for free legal help in obtaining child support or how you may be able to file for such support on your own.
