I always go to self check out unless I have a buggy full. You can do mostly everything yourself and get out quick.
I believe they're trying to push everybody to go to self checkouts, ultimately they have less labor. It gets very frustrating.
They schedule less cashiers and try to get people to use the self check plus the registers are all outdated
They don't hire enough checkers. Some of the checkers are not highly motivated because of low pay, limited benefits, lack of promotional opportunities, etc. To many people shop there. Too few people take advantage of the self checkout and price and go options.
So while your standing in line you will look at stuff they have around the check out line and hopefully buy more stuff
