I spoke to a park maintenance employee a couple of weeks ago. They said SRP took down the trees because they were encroaching on the power lines. New trees were planted at the base of the berm so when they grow up they will be away from those power lines along the canal.
They still have trees along the perimeter. There's never been trees in the middle because of the soccer fields
