If local opossums keep getting in but can't get out, it may be easier to give them a way out than to try to prevent their entry! đ You can try providing them with a stable way to exit the pool at night. Put in a ramp of sorts, maybe just a plank of wood that won't fall away from the side but will give them a way to walk out once they get in.
