All the times we have been there it was excellent. However, the reality is that most places do have lapses in customer service from time to time. To get an overall sense of the place the Reviews and overall star rating is usually a good guide as long as there are enough of them. If a place has 4.5 stars out of a possible 5 stars over 200 reviews, it's probably a pretty good place. Then read the bad (one or two star rated) reviews to get a sense of how and when they don't do well. Then you can have a good idea of what to expect and when to go there. Having said the above, all it takes is one person in the wait staff to have a bad night, and anyone in their serving area suffers. And it usually happens when it is busy and your options are limited. You could always ask a manager if you could be reseated in a different section. If it's done tactfully your experience is vastly improved without making a scene and the wait staff will definitely get the message.
