Previous answer is correct, the horse back ride go thru dirt, rocky and muddy terrain. They go up the mountain and back down again. Riding is not a problem as long you can balance yourself and hold on.
The area you pay is up steps. It is flat ground from the parking lot to the horses, but it is dirt and grass, not pavement.
